Alright, so today, I would like to take the time to discuss this guy:

Red, From Pallet town. You see, he is a lot deeper character than what the show and games may have lead you to beleive. So, together...let's explore Red, starting with what I think is his implied tragic history.

Just like Ash, it appears that Red grew up without a father, and only had his mother in his life, and Blue as his only friend in life. You see, it's my theory that Red's father either A.) Died in some war that no one talks about (it would explain that apparent lack of fathers in this universe) or B.) His father was abusive and his parents are divorced.

As an abusive father, Red's father would've likely verbally, as well as physically assaulted Red and his Mother. Often telling him that he was 'worthless' or 'good for nothing', as well as pyschologically scarring him as he watched him hit mother, night after night, powerless to do anything to stop it. Perhaps maybe Red's father also extinquished his cigars on his head, which why Red always wears a hat? So he can hide the bald spots and scars on his scalp from the cigars.

Moving on, its more than likely that Red's mother eventually got sick of this, and called the cops, and got Red's father sent to prison for a long time...but not before she would develop a serious drinking problem. Drinking alone was the only way Red's mother could cope with this. Each months child support money would go to buyin more poke-booze, and getting herself shit-faced on a daily basis. However, she was still a mother, and had to raise Red on her own, interupting her drinking alone time. So, she had an idea...She could have more drinking alone time if she simply tossed Red out into the world, letting the world shape her Son...and thus is how Red's adventure began.

Now, let's touch on Red himself: All the years of abuse would likely have caused him to pyschologically snap, and have quite a lot of repressed memories. He wanted to be the best simply so he prove to the world that he wasn't worthless or good for nothing! He wanted to raise strong pokemon so he could no longer be powerless when horrible things went on in front of him. He craved power, he chased success, he wanted it all.

As time would pass, Red would slowly start to become a hallow shell of who he once was: Victory was all that mattered to him, adding another name to his list of defeated trainers was what he lived for- one less person to stand in his way between his desire. He no longer wanted to become the best...He NEEDED to become the best. He needed it to validate himself and to just make him feel something again.

Eventually, he would become so strong that all the battles would become boring to him. However, he still had an itch that he needed to scratch. So, he decied to seclude himself ontop of Mt.Silver, and wait for his next challanger- Someone who might actually stand a chance against his sheer power.

Finally, in Soul Silver/Heart gold, after the player beats Red, Red basically vanishes, right? Well...I beleive that after he had been defeated, Red truely began to feel worthless, and useless. There was someone elese in the world who was stronger than him...someone he couldn't even fathom to defeat. In one final act of despiration, Red would release all his pokemon, and appologize to them before he would toss himself off the clifs of Mt.Silver, letting gravity take his life away...and thus was the end of Red.
