Devinbolt145's Event Team - Actors Application

Post: # 4184Post Devinbolt145 »

MC Username:
Devinbolt145

Age:
17

Time Zone:
CST, Texas

Number of hours available:
Minimum of 10 a week, I can clear up time for events if I need to and besides homeschooling my time's pretty open.

RP Name:
Jeremy "Gem" Harold

RP Age:
18

Are you in any leadership positions in-game?
Negative

Define meta-gaming, and give two examples.

Meta-Gaming is NOT, sharing IC information to people OOCly but Meta Gaming is using the information that they gave you IC. In other words if someone were to tell me they were in Cobalt and found a shiny, Jeremy (My character) would not know that, and If I were to go there as Jeremy and catch that shiny ICly it would be Meta Gaming. People usually do not share IC info in OOC chat to prevent Meta but that does not mean that it is Meta to share that information.

Example #1;
I will provide one correct way of dealing with the situation and one incorrect way.

My good friend Thov's character Aeiden has just gotten in a order of lids that need to be hammered, And I myself catch wind of this. Jeremy then goes to Aeiden and asks for the order he got in.
Aeiden has just gotten a new order of lids and Thov tells me OOC, Jeremy continues what he's doing until it is time for work and he goes to the factory where he usually gets the orders. Aeiden shows up on his own time and the order is delivered after Jeremy LEARNS about the order.
Example #2;
I will provide one correct way of dealing with the situation and one incorrect way.

A new event is just started in Toro but a player is late to log on and hear the broadcast. Bob (Let's call him bob), knows OOCly that there is an event so He..

A) Flys on his pixelmon to the place of the event and joins in like nothing happened!
B)Waits for his character to realize the emptiness of the streets and looks for a straggler, If he finds someone he can ask what happened and maybe get some info about the event IC and then can fly there. If he doesn't find someone he'll have to come up with a really good IC reason to show up to the event.

Define power-gaming, and give two examples.

Power Gaming, AKA God Modding, can be defined in two main details.

1) When a character is a 'Mary Sue' or a 'God'. Meaning that the character can not be beaten and or has no weaknesses or flaws.

C) When an emote is used that gives no room for a rebuttal, Like tying someone up or tackling them and pinning them down without any chance for the other player to react.

Example #1;
I will provide one correct way of dealing with the situation and one incorrect way.

Jeremy spots another trainer with his pixelmon out and orders his pixelmon to attack the other trainer's pixelmon.
Jeremy sees another trainer and verbally challenges him to a battle, The trainer accepts and they get ready to battle.
Example #2;

I make a new character, Jeremy 2.0 who no longer has an allergy to geography and no longer makes any of the regular mistakes had made before, I also give him two robot walking arms that make him faster than everything and he doesn't have to worry about diseases anymore from his hypothyroidism that makes him produce extreme amounts of thyroxine and triiodothyronine but it doesn't overdose him making him a giant and virtually invincible. Alongside all these improvements he has a specialist perform xenotransplantation of his occipital cortex with that of a portia and the temporal lobe of a silvertip grizzly without the worry of rejection on the hyperacurate, acute vascular, accommodation, cellular, or chronic basis. Also not having to worry about Dysregulated coagulation.

Explain the difference between IC and OOC.

IC or "In Character" is a way of speaking as if you were the character yourself and immerse yourself in that role. You would talk like that character and act like that character. This is done in an IC chat.

OOC or "Out Of Character" is, like IC, a way of communicating but in this case as your normal self and talking about things that are not always pertaining to the game or Role Play. This is done in an OOC chat.

These terms can also refer to IC or OOC Information which IC can be shared into OOC chat but things learnt in OOC should NEVER be used IC.

What can you bring to the Actors team?

Besides being a fresh face and maybe a new style of Role Play I can bring both jokes and professionalism when called for. I am very interactive and will talk to about anything anytime, I believe this makes me an open person meaning that people can come to me with ideas without the nervousness. Since even I do not have a decided personality for myself I can slip into any role as it it were natural for me, Obviously this would be a vary useful trait for any type of actor. I also bring my vast vocabulary and extensive knowledge of grammar and when to appropriately use the 'hashtag' #YOLOSWAG2014, which is never... Seriously...... stop this madness.
Most joking aside I believe that I would be a good addition to the team with my experience and willing to help out wherever I'm needed, should this be Building, writing, brainstorming... Et Cetera.
Besides the knowledge I have already accumulated for myself I continue to study different ways and forms of Role Play, The basics being LARP, Tabletop, Online, and Freeform. Ours of which is a crossover of LARP and Online.
As well as learning the differences of these types (Which isn't much help for us here since we only use two types and it's pretty simple...)
I have memorized and continually study RP Etiquette which the five basic rules of are:

1. Relax and have fun. We have enough stress in life as it is, and there's no need to bring that into the game. This can be a time of emotional release, also called a catharsis, which is healthy. REMEMBER THIS IS JUST A GAME!

2. Incorporate and be friendly to new individuals. Remember how difficult it was for you to initially start off playing. However, if they act in a manner that is disruptive to your group, offer them the chance to make an attitude adjustment or as a final act, remove them from the situation.

3. Don't cheat. If everyone else can do it the hard way, you can do it as well. Ex; Meta Gaming and Power Gaming

4. Don't expect to be loved. If you are being out of character, crude, cruel, or even disruptive to a game, do not expect to be liked, or have folks take your side. It's important to remember that people generally have social norms, and breaking them can get you trouble.

5. What happens in game, stays in game. People who do not know you may make assumptions about your personality based off the type of character that you play, or vice versa, but don't allow this to color your view of someone, or let it prevent you from making friendships. People are not their character!

What is one weakness in yourself that might hinder your ability to work on this team?

To keep this section short and not exponentially lengthy like all aforewritten I'll sum this up into a small paragraph.

I have the horrid tendency to create run-on sentences that can drone on monotonously for hours and lead to topics that have nothing to relate to the original basis of starting the sentence. Kind of like that last one...

Create one unique idea for an Event you would like to create and be a part of as an Event Actor.
Minimum of two paragraphs, specifically including information about event-only characters

An unsettling darkness falls on Toro as the people lay their heads down to sleep, all expecting to be safe and sound in their homes and in their dreams. But tonight, that was anything but the case.

Deep within the dense forests to the west of Viridis a fog twists and winds its way between the trees as if it were its own conscience. As the fog lengthens its reach to the town of Viridis the leaves and grass wither to a black mushy compost and the wood cracks and degrades as it decomposes in its place, buildings collapse into piles of vile pile of black waste.

Despite the creaking and crashing of falling trees and buildings, Toro is silent, eerily silent.
Not even the ratticates peeped a rat-a-tat-tat and the Fearows even stayed in their nests, almost as if afraid to fly into a stray wind of mist.

A tattered parchment floating on a stray gust glides into Aurelia and lands at your feet. Out of curiosity you pick to up and take a glance. It is splattered in blood and is written by a shaky almost mortified grip.

It reads;

"To any who finds this, please help, there is a cold, and terrible evil here, and I fear that by the time you read this, I will have given into its grasp. This is no normal smog, and stinks of powerful rot, and that of an evil that I believed long ago imprisoned.

I have no choice but to run now, it has found me and is not far behind, to any who reads this, please do not face this thing alone, your fate will be the same as mine. This must be taken down by the most powerful of trainers from all of Toro, there can be no more grudges towards each other when our true enemy shows his fangs again. I do not wish to die, nor do I wish to run without sending this warning to all that need to hear of this danger.
This rots the ground it stands on, and fills the air with death.The very trees cower in its presence. May god help any who try to fight this thing, and may luck be with you, for I fear that I will not stay in this world much longer. Your enemy, if you wish to challenge him, rules the air in the forests to the west of Viridis. Face him with pride and you will fail, but face him with your wits and your courage... And you might just save us all..."

The last part of the letter seems to be unfinished, he could not explain this evil...nor its purpose, the destiny of what will happen will lie to you hero, what is your destiny? Warn Toro that something of great darkness has breached the peace? Or do you play the up most fool who tries alone to be our hero, decide quickly before the mist reaches all of Toro and we are all certainly dead.

There is no telling what manner of beast this pixelmon is and where it resides, but your quest is to find it and to subdue it and save all of Toro from its torment, Good Luck.

Main Characters;
The two main characters would be played by actors that lead the expedition to find the pixelmon and would both be trainers who were attacked by the beast but escaped, they would both be tattered and injured and slightly insane. These two are part of a party of six that came to Toro and were attacked. The main plot of the actual event would be to chase the beast until it decides to fight.
We would also need four actors to play as the other party members that go insane and attack the party and after being defeated tell them which way the beast went.

Max is a tourist from the Hoenn region he is a retired gym leader making him normally very confident and strong but after being attacked he is left weak and very paranoid. He tends to dart his eyes around as if he were to see a ghost and will sometimes be frozen in place as he remembers the attack. He leads the expedition.

Julie is Max's sister who accompanied him to Toro on their vacation. She is surprisingly strong as a trainer and since Max took most of the aggro of the attack she is a bit more mentally stable than him but is still traumatized.
She is normally numerous but that has been stripped away in the severity of the situation, she tries to look on the lighter side of things but is still in a panic.

They both want revenge on this beast and track down the other members of their group to find where the beast went.

Setting;
The setting would be in the forests west of Viridis and the ET-B would need to trash Viridis and make it decomposed and also kill the trees and grass in the forests. Making the grass mycelium and placing mushrooms near fallen trees.
We would also need to make a region under the parent region to prevent mob spawning and be ready to be able to spawn pixelmon in Veridis where the beast would be spawned after an encounter with other actors on the forests pointing them to Veridis in a chase of the beast.

Besides hat is written here the ET-C can work out the other details should this event be used.

Previous experiences:

I do not want to give you some generic answer by numbering off each position and carrying on like an inconsiderate "nub", Instead, I will tell you I have had more than enough experience with whatever task may be set before me. I do my best with what tools I am given and dedicate myself until my employer and or myself are both satisfied and get the job done on time even if I have to work overtime. If I do not have the skills or knowledge I immediately try to improve and learn how to adapt.

I have had experience in nearly every position except that of Developer as my coding is a joke, but I am familiar with many plugins and commands.
I learned most of my plugin knowledge from a mini games server I first moderated and then moved on to administrate called Aeveria and I developed my maturity and common sense from tons of trial and error in my short but hectic lifespan. I help develop another Minigames server called Apachi Craft and am an Admin and Head Lore Master for an up and coming RPG/RP server called Aetherium on the side, all of my projects are very slow and non resource demanding whatsoever. These projects take a minimum among of my time and I do not log onto them unless needed maybe once a week, once they get up and running they may take an hour or so a day but being homeschooled means I can be on almost 24/7 and my life is virtually empty. I have owned my own strict RolePlay server and it did well for awhile but I had to shut it down after awhile due to a lack of funds. Alongside owning my own I have Co-Owned a zombie survival RPG server which had an average of 60 players on a day and was pretty successful, sadly the owner lost interest and instead of handing it over to me he shut it down completely. I Co-Owned a medieval RPG server with a heavy religion based lore that I wrote and it did really well topping at 200 players online on the weekends it was called Aeternitas. On Aeternitas we had roughly 40 different plugins ranging from World Edit to Heroes to PermEx to Personal Horses and besides the twenty or so core plugins lots that were fun to play around with and use in game. I'm also quite good with World Painter. (I don't know what's up with all the fantasy names that start with an A I guess it's my quirk.)

I've already begun looking into the plugins we use for the server here on Toro and familiarizing myself with them, Ive been heavily studying World Guard and how Pixelmon mobs tie into it and like SCS (Really simple)

If anyone is interested and or curious about more of my former and current staff positions they can PM me for more info! I'd be glad to provide proof of my claims. While quality trumps quantity, practice makes perfect.

Other comments or concerns:
Although I'm a bit new and not the most informed about the inner workings of the server I'd love to learn more about everything pertaining to the server and its wonderful staff team that I hope to find myself working with for years to come. I hope that you will get to know me and test my work ethic before you decide whether or not I can be trusted with such a position. Let me know what you think about me and my monotonous application.

Hi there! Can you also apply for RP Trainer? On staff, our actors and trainers are the same people.

Thanks and good luck!
