How to Get Started

Welcome to the beautiful Toro Region! You are on your way to beginning your grand adventure, but first I have some tips for you…

Setting Things Up

You will be spawned into a house in a small farming town know as Canvas. This house is your aunt’s since your character will be traveling from out of the region. Once you log on, there are a few times you should do. The first would be to set your Trainer Card which you can view by using the command /char. The other commands to fill it out are

/setname [character name] – If you wish to use both your character’s first and last name, make sure there is an underscore(‘_’) between the names. For example, John Smith should be written as ‘John_Smith’.

/setage [age] – This is where your character’s age goes.

/setgender [Male:Female] – Are you a boy or girl?

/setinfo [info] – This is a place for a physical description of your character. Write about their hair, height, eyes, and any visible markings. For example, if we describe John Smith, we would write ‘A young looking man with spiked up brown hair and brown eyes who stands at 6’2”.’

/addinfo [info] – If something happens to your character while they are in Toro, maybe they got a scar or tattoo, then you can use this command to add it to the card.

The second thing you should do would be to use /nick [character name]. Just like with the /setname command, make sure there is an underscore between the names. This name is what is shown when you use one of the three roleplay chats but I’ll explain those later.

Third, you should make sure you are using our texture pack! If the lapis lazuli block upstairs in the house does not look like a shelf, you aren’t using it! Click here to go to the page where you can download it. Our texture pack is custom made to fit the theme of our server and we highly recommend that you use it since all the builds are designed using that pack so the world might look a bit strange if your don’t use it.

Lastly, before you head out of the house you should use both /kit starter and /kit guide. The first one gives you 5 Pixelballs, a Potion, 10 pieces of bread, and 10 apples. These can help you start on your journey as a trainer or other profession your character wishes to have. The second kit gives you a book that has tips and commands useful throughout the region and your time spent on the server. Also, if you type /money, you can see how much virtual money your character has. You should have 3,000 Pix when you first join the server.
Remember, once you step foot out of the house, you must always be in-character!

Interactions with Others

First and foremost this is a roleplaying server so while you are on our server, you must be in-character. Of course you are permitted to use our Out-Of-Character channel if you wish to have casual conversations with people. But be weary of Meta! That is something that can cause your account to get suspended.

We have 4 different main channels of talk, 3 IC and 1 OOC. Your character’s name is visible when you speak in the 3 IC channels. The OOC channel displays your minecraft username. Here are the commands for the different channels.

/t – This channel has a range of 20 blocks and is used when your character is just talking.

/w – This channel has a range of 3 blocks and is used when your character wants to whisper something to someone else.

/s – This channel has a range of 40 blocks and is used when your character wants to shout to someone who is far away.

Use * when you want to emote something. For example, if you type ‘*waves to the person across the street.’ then it will appear in chat as ‘John_Smith waves to the person across the street.”

A good tip for when you are in one of these three chats, when your character is talking, use quotation marks around their speech. It helps other plays to identify what your character is saying.

/ooc – This channel is the Out-Of-Character channel and is a global type chat. This allows for players to have casual conversations with each other.

/msg [player] [message] – If you wish to private talk to another player, use this command. This is also considered to be Out-Of-Character.

Here are some simple tips for roleplaying with others

- Be considerate of others. Some people take longer to type and you should patiently wait for them to finish. Don’t write more in a way that pressures them to finish. It is rude and annoying.

- Stand still when you are talking to others and only move when your character moves. It is rude to other players and it also makes it difficult for them to concentrate on roleplaying.

- DO NOT throw your pixelmon at another player’s pixelmon without first roleplaying with them and the roleplay allows for there to be a battle. Violation of this can result in an account suspension.

- Since this is serious roleplay server, basic grammar is important and it also makes it easier for other players to understand what you are saying. Use capitalization in the right places and commas too.

Follows these tips and you will have a fun time on the server!

Once you step out of your aunt’s house you will see this sign. Turn left and head to the PixCo factory. Turn right and head to Aurelia, the capital city. But you ask yourself, what next? A trainer needs money and maybe a place to live, correct? Next I’ll tell you about jobs and housing.

Jobs/Income

There are 4 different ways to get income.

1st – Selling drops at the Pawn Shop. This is the easiest way for a trainer to earn some quick cash and get rid of all of their unwanted junk they gain from battling wild pixelmon. But it’s not the greatest way of getting a ton of money.

2nd – Working at the PixCo Factory. PixCo is the company that, according to our lore, created the Pixelball. Their factory is where you can help to make the lids. Use /kit manual to get a book that explain how to work. This is another easy way to get money and it helps with the progression of unlocking the different colored apricorns.

3rd – Getting a job. This is for those who want a job with a seasonal salary. Speak to the leaders of each city about what jobs are currently open that they are hiring for. For example, Aurelia has an employment board outside of the Town Hall that displays jobs that are currently available. You can also ask owners of shops to see if they are hiring. It is always a good idea to ask around in-character when looking for a job!

4th – Setting up a business. Want to sell items or run a store of your own? Then go ahead and start a business! Rent a shop from any city that suits your fancy, figure out what you want to sell, and run your shop. We use a plugin called ShowCaseStandalone which creates shops for individual items. Here is a list of the commands

/scs [sell] [item/this] [amount] [price] - Right click a block within your rented shop space and it will sell that item for you. Players can right click to buy it and their money will go straight to your account!

/scs display [item/this] - Right click a block within your rented shop or house and it will display this item.

/scs price [price] - Use this to change the price of your shop instead of having to redo all of it.

/scs owner [player] - If you want someone else to own the shop, use this command.

/scs remove – If you want to get rid of a shop, use this command.

If you want some quick cash every day, vote for us! There are links on the front page of the forums and by voting, you will get 1000 Pix every day. It also helps to spread the word about our amazing server. ^^

Housing

So you have some money and maybe you have some items you don’t want to keep on your person all the time but you need somewhere to store them. What should you do? Get a house or an apartment in a city! There are currently 5 cities in the region; Aurelia, Carmine, Cobalt, Ferrite, and Viridis. Explore the towns and figure out which one you would like housing in. Once you decide, talk to the leader of the town or someone from the local government and found out how you can rent a place. After you rent it, you will be given permission to build within the house or apartment so you can decorate however you would like. Preferably in a way your character would design it. There are shops around Aurelia that sells items that can be used to decorate your house or apartment.

Now that you have gotten started you can go on your pixelmon adventure around Toro Region! Explore, make a city, make a business, become a gym leader, or catch them all. So have fun and enjoy our server!
