Toro's Gyms & Battling

Post: # 14830Post Misha »

I still need to double check with relevant parties to see if there's anything that needs to be changed, such as rules. Keep this in mind!
Battling in Toro
Being a Pixelmon server- we understand that battling can play an important part of making it feel like the Pokemon experience for some. While you are more than free to make a character who doesn’t participate, we wanted to give it for those interested. We created a few different avenues to give you the opportunity to show off your unbreakable bond with your Pokemon and achieve fame and glory!

Gyms & Battling: Toro's Gyms

Post: # 14831Post Misha »

Toro's Gym
With the exception of Canvas- each of Toro's towns has a gym you can challenge!

Global Gym Rules
  • A Gym Leader reserves the right to deny awarding a badge or end / deny a challenge for unreasonable behavior or action, as well as for breaking any of the rules.
  • One attempt at one Gym is allowed per season. Failed attempts, rematches, and new gyms share a timer that resets at the start of every Sunday.
  • Bag items (ex: healing / revival / consumable items) are not allowed. Held items are acceptable.
  • Do not discuss the any gym leader’s teams or gym challenges ICly or OOCly around anyone who hasn’t yet done that gym.
  • FEAR tactics are banned (level 1 Pokemon using the combination of Focus Sash/Sturdy, Endeavour, and a priority move). Please ask if you want to know if something is considered to be FEAR.
  • You must follow Toro's species clause; this disallows two of the same Pokemon from being used. Regional Variants are acceptable. Ex: A Trainer cannot use Rotom-H and Rotom-W, nor two Kanto Ninetales. However, they can use Kanto Ninetales and Alolan Ninetales, or Perrserker and A-Persian.
  • The gyms are split into segments which will be listed below; you must collect all badges from your current and previous segments of the circuit in order to advance onto the next one.
    - Segment 1: Aurelia Gym
    - Segment 2: Viridis Gym, Cobalt Gym, Ferrite Gym
    - Segment 3: Carmine Gym, Tyrian Gym, Galena Gym
    - Segment 4: Adamas Gym
If your Pixelmon is over the lower team's level you will have to fight the level 100 team. However, a staff member might be able to bring the level down if you only went a level or two over by accident so long as you don’t have an illegal move or evolution!

If the Gym Leader withholds your badge- which would notably likely be due to unsportsman-like conduct or disrespecting the area the challenge or battle is in- we recommend you appeal to the Gym Leader first and see if there's anything you can do. If you feel it was unfair for this to happen and / or you cannot work something out please create a CR ticket or contact one privately and it will be looked into.

Battle Tower
Found in the capital city of Aurelia is the region’s Battle Tower- a place to participate in doubles battles with NPCs to earn Battle Points which can be redeemed for items on the top-most floor, as well as bragging rights. This is a challenge you can go through without any badges.

Gyms & Battling: Adamas Dojo

Post: # 14835Post Misha »

Adamas Dojo
Adamas Dojo, located in the Sakura District of Adamas, is a player-run facility that has six Masters that you can challenge for their title. The niche however is that you must use Pokemon matching the level of the position you’re aiming for. more unique competitive experience.

The purpose of the Dojo is to break down the mentality of "I have to grind my Pokemon to level 100 immediately or they will never be useful". Battling should be fun, and possibly competitive, but never bitter- nor should you feel forced to be the best trainer to battle.
Dojo Battles
You can find who to contact for a battle in the Current Dojo Masters thread!

Rules
  • 1. When a challenger faces a Dojo Master, both parties are required to use teams of Pokemon that match that Title’s level. You may not scale down or up using battle rules. Ex: The Level 40 Master must use a team of level 40 Pokemon, and the challenger must use a team of level 40 Pokemon too.

    2. There are no strict requirements for team numbers or composition. Dojo Masters and challengers can use as many Pokemon as they wish, and Dojo Masters cannot demand their challengers to fight with special rules.

    3. All items are allowed except for hp and status healing items such as Potions, Full Heals, Antidotes, or Revival items.

    4. New Masters are allowed to decline matches and battle freely and without giving up their title for their first OOC week only. After this, Masters must accept challenges and their title is permanently on the line.

    5. After four seasons of inactivity, GMs may take the title from a Master and give it to an NPC until someone claims it. If a GM is warned in advance when a Master will be absent from the server for a time they will be understanding.

    6. If a challenger loses, the Master can choose to deny a rematch for up to three OOC days, after which they must accept a rematch at both parties’ convenience. However, this rule is to help reduce the stress of a Master being challenged every day over and over again; if the Master wants they may also choose to accept a rematch immediately.
Rewards
Master’s Badge
Whenever you defeat a Master they will give you their badge. This comes with some perks- the most notable perk of having this is access to the Master’s Lounge.

In addition, it will allow your character to be reimbursed for pix spent at partnered businesses. To avoid abuse and encourage RP- this covers 1,500pix worth per season, and it requires that you spend the pix and show your badge during a roleplay. Listed are the businesses partnered with the Adamas Dojo:
  • • Nyan Cafe [Adamas]
    • Mantine Funtime Parktime [Cobalt]
    • Entertainment Center 720 [Cobalt]
    • Fancy Restaurant [Carmine]
    • The Persian’s Purr [Carmine]
If you own a business and wish to partner with the Adamas Dojo, or if you spent pix in a roleplay and wish for it to be reimbursed, contact Misha.

First Time Rewards
When someone becomes a Master for the first time, they will receive the listed items.
  • • 10,000 Pix
    • Two TMs of their choice.
    • A gold-plated Pixelball
A staff member will provide this, not the Master they beat.
The money, TMs, and pixelball are not renewed when a former Master becomes a Master once again

The Master’s Lounge.
When you hold one of the Master's Badges, you have access to the lounge. This comfy lounge comes complete with an enclosed garden area that provides some one of the best Pokemon training experiences in Toro. This means having Level 80-100 Blisseys, as well as easy grinding opportunities for all EVs.

Rules
  • 1. The only people that have access to the lounge are current Masters possessing Master's Badges. Masters cannot bring in friends or relatives, if they do so both parties will face punishment.

    2. When they lose their badge, Masters will no longer be allowed into the lounge. If they want access again, they must become a Master again.

    3. If you are not a Master and are caught in the Masters lounge for any reason without consulting the GMs first (this includes "just looking around.") you will be punished. There is not a warning system for this as there are signs outside of the door.

Gyms & Battling: Tournaments

Post: # 14836Post Misha »

Tournaments
In Toro a lot of various tournaments are hosted- either on their own or as part of a larger event! Generally you can find these on the Toro Event Calendar or in the #toro-media channel in the official Toro Discord. While the staff go out of their way to host some, we encourage the players themselves to run them as well!
Running a Tournament
If you’re interested in running your own, you could either privately contact a member of the Event Team or ask around ICly or OOCly if you’re unsure of who to go to!

The staff- and other players- are more than willing to help! You can ask around for help hosting, providing prizes, setting up locations, or giving temporary Pokemon if needed.

Location Suggestions
  • • Aurelia’s Gym
    • Jigglypuff Park [Aurelia]
    • Aurelia’s Colosseum
    • Carmine Theater
    • Black Lotus Casino [Carmine]
    • Underwater Dome [Cobalt]
    • Adamas Dojo
    • Lapras Cavern Arena [Galena]
If you have any more suggestions for locations feel free to contact Misha to update this and add it to your list.
