Outlier Region Submission (Australia)

Post: # 15152Post RosetheDrifting6 »

MC Username: RoseTheDrifting6
Region Name: Outlier Region
Demonym: Outlaurians
Country Equivalent(if any): Australia
Demographics: Mostly fair skinned, however there is a fair share of mixed, having relatively pale skin is quite rare in this region. Ethnicity ranges quite heavily, with the most common being praising to Arceus, however there's a noticeable percentage that praises to Xerneas and Yveltal, which is lead to be thought due to the unforgiving seasons.
Official Language: Unovan
Capital City(if any): Oraberra
Religion(if any): Interfaith
Geography: The geography of the Outlier region is quite diverse. The North to East coasts are lush with forests, which house a large amount of dangerous pokemon. Natives even state that the plants there can knock out a dragonite with just a pill sized piece. The majority of the region though is known as the "Outlands" where the excitement happens. This part of the Outlier Region is infamous for movies, especially those with a wasteland concept. The pokemon that live out here are far and few between, but according to the natives, its nothing to overlook. Reports of stampedes of Scolipedes roam these dusty plains, as well as houndooms on the hunt. In the night, mysterious creatures unknown to science are said to surface in the streams, and dive under the water to unknown depths. As well as being a perfect home for cyndaquil and their line, its also one of the things that puts the Outlier region out from others. Then we get to the seas, with a tourist attracting Dynamax Reef. This reef has an array of life that is unique to this region, since so many different pokemon live in the reef together. Abundances of corsola, both galarian and kantonian, with large volumes of fish.
History: The history behind the outlier region is quite vast. Originally it was a place used by many other regions, though it gained its independence after many years of swapping the name they where under. They originally only really worked in the north through east, however they began to settle across the Outlands. The economy at this point was not very good, lacking what other regions their size would have. Including an infamous war near this point, due to farmers facing famine due to their crops being trampled by Dodrio. The outlier region took action, with a small group of the national military, and a team of Heliolisks, as well as one or two Manetric to help efforts. It started off slow and caused various problems, with a lack of funding already at hand. It took a few years before they got their tactics under control, but this only drove the Dodrios out of few places. The government then decided to call off the military, after the pokemon where beginning to become tired, struggling to work under the conditions of the heat. This lead to a problem, which they required outside regions to help. With a higher budget, the dodrios where soon drove out of most cultivated places, allowing farmers to peacefully create a living without their crops being trampled. After the fact, they where faced with other problems, such as invasive pokemon, similar to the yungoose in the alolan region. The infamous one was Seismitoad, loving the locations enviroment, and lack of predation from large predators, they spread quickly. Causing issues against wildlife, such as seismitoad populations draining resources from the natural toxicroak populations, and also straining the already struggling greninja populations. However, there are good times too. They where quite healthy allies with most regions during wars and other efforts, as well as becoming a tourist hub, atleast on the eastern side. The region itself also has grown severely, growing a stable government, and military by this point.
Culture: The culture of the Outlier region is most similar to Galar, since when they began, they already had much of Galars citizens within them, mainly from moving to start new lives or get jobs in the new, untamed lands. The people there are also notoriously fearless, on account of people who have went for tours, Outlaurians would, quote, "even tangle with krookodile to prove a point." Though not everyone in the region is this crazy, the frequent strong and large pokemon probubly has inflicted them quite a bit.
Economy: The economy of the Outlier region is pretty good, with high Gross Domestic Product levels, which comes from the large farming and tourist costs there. Not to mention the businesses there and cities, the infrastructure alone causes large amounts of money to pour in, for people buying homes, land, or just renting it out for vacations.
Notable Figures(if any): Scott Morse (President)
Other: None

We appreciate the thought you've put into this, but we feel that the history focuses too much on an analogous 'funny story' related in real life Australian history, and none of the pre-colonization. It's very clear that the region was made for the purposes of making a character to make dumb jokes to reference, as you had stated in Discord, and unfortunately that isn't something we can accept on Toro as a region submission. You do not talk about any of the towns from the region, or the demographics, and everything feels truly bare bones. There's some lore inconsistencies as well that would need ironing out past that, as well as some grammatical errors that would need correcting.

We encourage you to try other regions, or if you're dead set on using an 'Aussie' character, try going the route of the Orange Islands as a 'Larger island' that fits the sort of culture you aim for. You won't need as much lore written either, we'll just encompass it, so long as you remain respectful of Australian culture and their people with your roleplaying.
