Rahim Knighton's Student Record

Post: # 13462Post Rosy »

Student Name: Rahim Knighton
Year: Graduate (Masters)
Major: Psychology
Thesis: The Effects of Pixelmon Interaction on Human Depression
Dorm: N/A

Has Earned Bachelor's of Arts in Psychology
Freshman Year

Fall Semester

Class: Unovan Composition I
Grade: C
Reason: Rahim isn't the most verbose, he's about as casual a speaker as you can be. That being said, he can be convincing when need be, and certainly can swing an emotion or two through words. His syntax needs work, but he's got the basics down!

Class: Foreign Language I - Alkiric
Grade: A
Reason: Rahim has a *cough* bit of an unfair advantage here.

Class: Elective - PE: Swimming
Grade: A
Reason: Rahim is a surfer and fantastic swimmer! He's also not above taking easy classes for a free A!

Class: Core Mathematics - Algebra I
Grade: D
Reason: And it was damn hard earned! Rahim isn't a problem solver, and math has always been a weak point for him. Hell, he can barely multiply without counting on his fingers. His only saving grace was having two engineers for mothers more than willing to tutor him, granted the pressure to achieve probably didn't help his grade too much. But, you know what they say, "D's get degrees."

Spring Semester

Class: Unovan Composition II
Grade: B
Reason: Rahim's not "book smart", much to his mothers' dismay. However, he is far from dumb. Learning from last semester's mistakes, he cranked out a B this time around.

Class: Foreign Language II - Alkiric II
Grade: A
Reason: It's still technically a "foreign" language. Even if it is his native tongue.

Class: Core History - World History
Grade: C
Reason: All those names and dates, memorizing just ain't easy, ya know? He'd have given it his all, but between lady killin', surfing, and the classes he ((actually cared about)) was more interested in, Rahim just wouldn't have performed optimally here.

Class: Introduction to Psychology
Grade: A
Reason: Eager, bright eyed and bushy tailed! Rahim's been helping people his whole life, and this is what he's here for. His first in-major class, and he wasn't about to screw it up.
Current GPA: 3.0
Sophomore Year
Fall Semester

Class: Core Literature - World Literature I
Grade: B
Reason: Rahim took it for the same reason he took Alkiric, he figured it would be easier. And it was. Nonetheless, he just didn't care to put that much time and effort into this class. B for him!

Class: Orientation to Psychology Major
Grade: A
Reason: It's an orientation class, Rahim could and did sleep through it and still make an A.

Class: Statistics for Social and Behavioral Sciences
Grade: C
Reason: Ah heck, Rahim was sure he was done with math classes. Oh well, at least this one was catered to students who don't know how to math too well.

Class: Sociology: Global Perspective
Grade: A
Reason: Sociology is just applied Psychology. And a wee 'lil Freshman course isn't gonna beat Rahim, even if he did have to put in a fair amount of effort for it.

Class: Core Science - General Biology I
Grade: C
Reason: It's just like that stupid history class, more memorizing than Rahim was made for, but this time, it's all scientific terms and lingo. He's lucky to have barely edged out a C.

Spring Semester

Class: Core History II - World History II
Grade: C
Reason: Is this core ever gonna be done? Don't these teachers just know Rahim isn't cut out for memorizing? And now essay writing too? At least he can almost kinda do that.

Class: Core Social Science - Introduction to Anthropology
Grade: C
Reason: This semester is really killing him. He thought this would be an easy class, and it was probably the easiest of his classes. Even then, more memorizing, now throwing history and biology together? Wrong choice of class.

Class: Core Science II - General Biology II
Grade: D
Reason: He wasn't so lucky this semester.

Class: Research Methods in Psychology
Grade: B
Reason: Alrighty, another in-major course. Rahim was excited, but he dreaded the return of the math he had barely mastered last semester. Luckily, his interest in the qualitative aspects pushed him up to a B.
Semester GPA: 2.56
Overall GPA: 2.78
Junior Year
Fall Semester

Class: Core Humanities - Philosophy of Race and Gender
Grade: B
Reason: Being an Alkiri with lesbian moms really does help put things into perspective. Plus, a little baby intro course isn't gonna take down the big bad Junior who was anything but big and bad. That being said, he's eager to be done with his core classes, and would definitely put more focus towards his in-major classes.

Class: Developmental Psychology
Grade: A
Reason: Hey! Helping kids. Having been Annie's baby sitter for years was finally paying off. Much like his Philosophy course, this course was pretty relatable to him.

Class: Abnormal Psychology
Grade: A
Reason: This is what he's here for, people who's minds just aren't their friends. He'd make sure to pay extra attention in this class, working his butt off, taking notes like a mad man, and - dare I say - reading his textbook!

Class: Sociology: Theories of Personality
Grade: B
Reason: He certainly found it interesting, but it wasn't his favorite class. A few of his friends might have found themselves ambushed with personality quizes for homework assignments.

Class: Social Psychology
Grade: A
Reason: Who's more sociable than Rahim - adventure hug business man extraordinaire! Gaining his self-confidence in social situations was a big step for him, certainly one he remembers vividly, and he'd love to understand the mechanics of social interaction.

Class: Industrial/Organizational Psychology
Grade: C
Reason: Rahim would like to go an entire semester without making a C, ya know? However, five in-major classes PLUS a core class really does take time out of your day. This class was about the closest to boring since his math classes, and Rahim probably used it to catch up on sleep.

Spring Semester

Class: Core Fine Arts - Appreciation of Music
Grade: A
Reason: Gotta hand it to FPU, if there is one thing that they are good at, it's neglecting art programs. This class was little more than sit down and write feelings about music. How can't you make an A?

Class: Behavioral Neuroscience
Grade: B
Reason: Can't they just leave biology behind? It's cool, but Rahim isn't built for the ewy-gooy-mushy-gushy stuff - at least not physically ewy-gooey-mushy-gushy stuff.

Class: Psychology of Learning
Grade: A
Reason: Okay! The one in-major class this semester that wasn't hard science. Rahim was thankful for this and really put his effort into it, securing an A!

Class: Sensation and Perception
Grade: B
Reason: Blah, blah, blah more biology. Geeze, why does he have to know how the brain works just to ask people why they're sad?

Class: Cognitive Psychology
Grade: A
Reason: More in line with Rahim's interests. He'd struggle in this class, but pouring enough work and cutting his losses elsewhere, he was quite proud of his A!

Class: Cognitive Neuroscience
Grade: C
Reason: *heavy sigh* Something had to give, didn't it? Boring and difficult, Rahim wasn't inspired to pay too much attention, though he'll blame the professor.
Semester GPA: 3.33
Overall GPA: 3.06
Senior Year
Note on this year: Hey hey! Rahim was hecka excited for a year without a single core class! Plus, most of these courses would from the very, very long list of Group C Electives, so he basically got to pick exactly what classes he wanted. He'd of course chose the one's he'd be best in. He's in a great place emotionally, family life has always been good, making a lot new friends, and he recently confessed his love to his girlfriend, and she reciprocated. Sure, some things are weighing him down, but he's got his A-game this year. Literally! So, his grades are skyrocketing this year, and he made an A in a bunch of his psych classes for this reason. So, I'll reference this instead of writing an individual reason~

Fall Semester

Class: Public Speaking
Grade: A
Reason: Rahim's nothing short of one of the most social people in Toro. He's confident and relaxed around everyone. No stammering or awkward pauses for this former Lady Killer.

Class: Applied Behavior Analysis
Grade: A
Reason: See note.

Class: Psychology of Choice and Decision
Grade: B
Reason: Unfortunately, with this course load, Rahim's just not that good a student. This was a harder class, and he'd be exhausted from the other courses, even if he did like it.

Class: Intro to Clinical Psychology
Grade: A
Reason: As well as the note, he knew that this was the class he couldn't afford to fluff up. He was engaged, attentive, and absorbed the material like a oddish at a pond. Even if it was a harder class, Rahim gave it his all and pulled out an A!

Class: Psychology of Addictive Behavior
Grade: B
Reason: Rahim's studying and working his best. Though he couldn't pull an A, he couldn't be happier to go an entire semester without a C!

Class: Psychology and Culture
Grade: A
Reason: See note.

Spring Semester

Class: Special Topics in Psychology
Grade: A
Reason: See note.

Class: History of Ideas in Psychology
Grade: A
Reason: See note.

Class: Child Psychology
Grade: A
Reason: See note.

Class: Adolescent and Adult Development
Grade: B
Reason: Difficult class, work load, poor student, yadda, yadda, yadda, you know the story by now.

Class: Behavioral Effects Environmental Contaminants
Grade: C
Reason: Same problem as in Seminar in Psychology, but this was a graduate level course. Yeesh, Rahim just isn't ready to handle that yet. Unfortunately, he couldn't keep up his "no-C' track record.

Yearly GPA: 3.54
Overall GPA: 3.30
