Odoyaka's Secret

Post: # 7097Post Vernon »

"Brother, can we play today?" Netlia was asking her older brother. She always wanted to play. The little girl was just turning 4, and she already thought she was grown up.

"I have to study Netlia," Pisu replied to his little sister. "Why haven't you asked Mom?"
"She's busy," Netlia had answered with an air of being upset.
"And Kokoro?"
"Mom took her. Said she was gonna show her some new friends."

That's odd, Pisu thought. It wasn't like their mother to ask for either one of her children's Pixelmon. She always seemed to get them on her own.

Kylee Odoyaka was a Pixelmon researcher. She conducted studies in her lab. Whenever the door to her home lab shut, all became silent behind that door. Her main lab was rather small as well, a restricted area. No one was allowed in without her permission, and very few had her permission.

However that doesn't mean much. Pisu has been suspicious of his mother's studies for the past two years. He started to notice that she would always try to sneak in wild and rare Pixelmon to the home lab. He also noticed they never come out of that lab.

His sister looked up at him with big red eyes, her Buneary ears lopsided on her head. She let out a small whine. Her brother sighed and stood up.
"I'm going to go get Kokoro for you, okay Net? Because I really do need to study, I have a test in two days."

Netlia nodded in understanding, beaming. Kokoro was her best friend, her sister almost. Right as he was about to leave, “Can I come too?!” she asks hopefully.

Pisu stopped for a moment, unsure if he should say yes. After a minute of contemplation, he spoke. “Yeah. I guess that’d be okay. Just don’t tell mom that we did this...alright?”

Netlia nodded and followed her brother to the living room, and then to the door to the basement lab. Netlia kept watch to make sure their mother wasn’t going to be home early while Pisu went to the lab door and picked the lock, something he picked up from some questionable friends.

Ten minutes and the door swung open. The two stepped in and Pisu clicked the lock behind him, however, not shutting the door. The room was warm, bright....and noisy. There was a pandemonium of cries from caged Pixelmon. Exotic ones, ones of different colors, or just plain rare. Each one looked feral, angry, vicious, even the cute little Skitty. The moment they set eyes on Pisu and Netlia, they silenced, watching, as if they thought the gates to the cages would open, and they could tear the siblings to shreds.

Pisu stepped forward, and saw a love ball sitting on a table. There was an N and a K engraved in the heart, something Pisu did for Netlia. He grabbed the pixelball and turned to leave...when the 3 of the cages opened. The Pixelmon jumped out of their cages and two began to glow. Each Pixelmon had an everstone in its cage. Pisu watched in horror as the Pixelmons' bodies changed, but their angry expressions remained.

The Delcatty turned to Pisu’s younger sister, eyes full of malice. Pisu realized that his sister was in danger, and barreled through the Luxio and Absol that blocked his path. He managed to get by, but not before the Absol struck him in the back with Razor Wind, leaving a deep diagonal mark in his back, that would soon scar. He tackled the Delcatty, yelling in pain from the strike. Netlia screamed and ran upstairs, and out the door. As Pisu got up, the Absol, Luxio and Delcatty turned their attention on him, blocking his path up the stairs.

Pisu took a step back, reaching for his pixelballs instinctively, but he had forgotten his stronger Pixelmon. Probably for the best, as they were rather big, he thought as he sent out Rizor, his Skarmory. It wasn't strong enough to take on the Luxio, Delcatty and Absol that stood before him, but enough to buy him time to escape.

Rizor drew the attention of the three Pixelmon away from Pisu long enough for him to escape to the door and return Rizor. He was lucky he locked the door before before he went down, because no matter how thick that door was, unlocked might as well have meant gone.

He looked around, his breath going wild. He has read things about early Pixelmon fighting, before the invention of the pixelball. "Trainers" would torture their Pixelmon with an everstone, to keep them small. The moment they were let into the ring, they would evolve and fight until killed. The need to do this was removed a long time ago with the invention of the pixelball.

It started adding up. So many things Pisu noticed about his mother. She was paranoid, strict about that section of the house. She kept weapons all over the house, and smiled whenever she saw something in pain. He sent out Kokoro, just to check if she was safe.
The Buneary looked up at Pisu, its ears extending in glee. She was fine, and she ran over to Netlia, her pink tail wiggling a bit.

Pisu looked at his sister, and realized that he had to get her out of the house, out of Kanto, before bad things would happen. He grabbed her hand, and made her pack things in his suitcase. He took her to a hotel, telling her some lie that their mother ran off, and he was going to find her. He bought her a ticket to a region called Toro, and told the hotel manager to make sure his sister got on the boat no matter what. He was going off on his own way, to hunt down his mother and bring her to the police.
