Toro's Elections, Round Six!

Post: # 11481Post Sn0wfa11 »

The news comes on one evening on Toro's many televisions to reveal a new- or, very old, face, one that those present long ago might recognize, a tanned man with slicked back hair whose face resembled that of Jimmy Johnson, albeit crueler. "Goooooooood evening Toro! This is Regis Johnson, everyone's favorite television host, coming to you live from..."

The camera pans out, and he frowns. "...Jail."

A laugh track plays and it switches back to the ordinary broadcaster, a blonde man with a strong jawline. "Sorry everyone, we thought after all his requests to host a show again we'd give him a few seconds for laughs. This is JTV, and I'm your host, Manny Anchor! Tonight, we're happy to announce Toro's next set of elections! Who will it be?"

The camera switches to his co-host, a young woman with a big smile on her face. "Gee Manny, I don't know. Maybe Premier Penn will be unseated by a better writing utensil!" A laugh track plays again, and Manfred laughs at the corny joke.

"Maybe Foreign Minister Tide will be washed away!" He looks directly at the camera and laughs obnoxiously.

"Maybe Arbiter Unterberg will..."

They both frown. Manfred offers, "Be... unter... feated?"

While it may not be occurring on television, a sad trombone does play inside your head at this.

----------------OOC----------------

Hi everyone! Sorry for the lame jokes, it's late for me right now and it's been a hectic few weeks for everybody. But, as the post suggests, Toro's elections are happening once more! We'll be following the procedure as we did last time. In terms of time, you'll be able to start officially campaigning as of this Sunday, 5/21, which is when we'll begin working with the candidates on the forum debate google doc as well. We'll be finalizing the debate google doc on the Wednesday after that. This is a more compressed timetable than usual due to the fact that elections had to be put off a bit anyway due to both player and stuff busyness with real life stuff (hi final exams). Voting will begin Friday or Saturday, most likely the former, dependent upon some administrative factors. We'll keep you posted, and candidates will be kept in the know on the forum debate and all- nobody's gonna be blindsided by a deadline, just be attentive and we'll of course be active in keeping in touch!

As for the forum debate, we'll also be taking question submissions for it as usual. This should all just be a recap anyway, but given I hadn't remembered it all I'm guessing at least someone else could use the refresher! Speaking of which, the position descriptions are http://www.toro-league.com/forum/viewto ... 150&t=2688 here!

With all that out of the way, if you'd like to register to run, please respond to this post, like in previous elections, with the form below:

Edgar, frowning a bit as this day came, would write his name on the ballot like he did 4 years ago, ready to begin again, and maybe get a chance to do his plans, without interruption from a certain doctor.
Name: Edgar G. Penn

Position Desired: Premier of Toro

Marigold leaned back on her office chair, a unusual smile on her face. Her thoughts for the past nine years was this, her years of law school, her years of district attorney, all that just for this, the beginning of a long stressful debate just for the off chance she might be able to help Toro and keep a promise. With a light sigh she opens the drawer to her left and looks to a police badge that most certainly not belong to her. Taking it out of the drawer and it;s protective case she regains her confidence, 'Welp, might as well try, right, Doc?'

Tide once more puts his name forward, hoping to continue his quiet but successful program of keeping Toro's external relations, at least, functional and peaceful.

Lucas gulped as he thought about this. He studied up on the foreign minister stuff, but he was still very nervous. He was going up against Tide Bryant, a man with much more experience than him. All he was, was a guy who studied up on stuff. Still, not running would just make it harder reaching his goals of being able to improve Toro in the world, and help others in need. Taking a deep breath, he though that he should at least take a shot at it. No harm in trying, right?
