Important Pokemon Info

In Toro, the lore for Pokemon may be different than the lore present in official Pokemon sources! It may have been changed to enhance the roleplay in the server by removing rather silly lore, to create consistency with pre-established lore as new things came out, or to clarify things that might come up in roleplay but hasn't been explained by the games. Whatever the reason, this thread will help put together the most important information for people to know!

If you need further clarifications or have any questions, feel free to ask!

Mega Pokemon
In Toro Lore, Mega Stones are a semi-recent discovery founded in Toro. Toro's credited with first getting them, figuring them out, along with being the place with the most sightings. Although other Mega Stones have shown up throughout the world, although they are incredibly rare.

For a long explanation of it there is a thread about it: [HERE]

- To get them on server you get them through personalized events! We request that they get them after they've formed a strong bond with their Pokemon of choice, and has been seen RPing that.

But the short of it is you may have ONE Mega Pokemon per character. Once you’ve gotten your Mega Stone, message a GM so you can get your Keystone unlocked. Just be sure that THIS is the Mega you’ll want, because while there will be a way to swap your Mega, it’s not an easy process ICly, and the ETs might get mad if they have to run 4 Mega Events for your ONE character.

You can request an event to get a stone here: [HERE]

Quick note for IC interactions: The Term “Mega Evolution” isn’t unanimously accepted. People ICly call it different things, such as Fabulous Evolution, Evolution Plus, Burst Evolution, and so on. Any of those are valid terms.

Z-Crystals
These crystals, in lore, are still pretty tied to Alola. They have strict import and export laws, meaning nobody can take them out from the islands. They have found their way to Toro somehow though (resulting in a new set of strict laws)! Ask around ICly on how your character can acquire one.

For a long explanation of it there is a thread about it: [HERE]

Legendaries
Here’s the big one. Legendary Pokemon are NOT OBTAINABLE in Toro. Toro does not allow the obtaining of Legendaries. Legendaries, and some Mythicals, in lore are considered Gods, with religions surrounding them. Though, not every Legendary has their own dedicated religion (Such as the Four Swords being a subset of Arceus, or the Birds of Lugia, or the Dogs of Ho-oh). If you can’t find anything in our Religion Section on it, check with a member of Lore Team for information, never just assume.

Special Pokemon / Systems

Some of the more special Pokemon generally have unique lore, if they even exist in the universe! Those Pokemon will be noted here.

Non-Existent Pokemon / Systems
There are some Pokemon & systems that just don’t exist. Here’s a short list.
● Genesect
● Black/White Kyurem
● Necrozma & Ultra Necrozma
● Dynamaxing
● Galar Legendaries [ Zacian/Zamazenta/Eternatus ]
● Zygarde's cell / 10% / 100% forms (only 50% form is known about via myths)
● Pokemon from yet-to-be-released games (don't even talk about them OOCly!)
Again, these don’t exist AT ALL, so there’s no way anyone would know about them in any form or fashion in RP, including but not limited to myths or ancient depictions.
Mythical Pokemon
A very small handful of Mythicals are available through RP! A list will not be given here as it should be assumed your character doesn't know that these Pokemon can be caught normally, and we believe it be more interesting to learn about them by seeing it yourself! If you see or hear about one you're certainly free to ask for more information though!

Ultra Beasts (A.K.A Paramon)
This classification title is used to tie together a specific (but diverse) group of "Pokemon". Though few of the Pokemon in this group have any relation to any other member of the group, they're bound by one common factor: they original from a world parallel to our own. Though accepted by laypeople as Pokemon despite their origin, there's some academic dispute over whether they should be strictly considered such - hence the general title "Paramon". These creatures only were discovered to exist after showing up a few decades ago. They were originally known to be incredibly aggressive as there were frequent attacks in both Toro and Alola. Overall though, Ultra Beasts still don't have the same amount of publicly-known information about them that a normal Pokemon would, and those that do know about them exclusively call them 'Paramon' or a 'Parallel Anomaly'.

The Paraspace Research Initiative, or PRI, was set up as an initial response and defense. After several years of destructive and random appearances by Paramon, the crisis was averted by an expedition to the source of one of the most dangerous para-world threats, and since then there have been no wild sightings of the anomalous "creatures" or the portals they come from. Toro was the original center of research on the subject, and controls one of the best-known means of access to what have been dubbed 'Paraspaces' - the parallel worlds.

To learn more information we recommend asking around in character!

Others
A few of the more special Pokemon have especially unique lore within the world of Toro. News of them have spread to other regions, with Porygon being the most well-known of the lot as it has been many years since its discovery. As usual- if you would like more information on any, please feel free to ask around in character.

Mewtwo
There's a chance your characters may have heard of a Pokemon called 'Mewtwo' with incredible psychic power created in Toro. It was created by Team Neo Noir, a criminal organization, in hopes of controlling it. However- they also know that Mewtwo has been pacified during the event that took down Team Neo Noir. It has since left the region with Mew to learn more about the world. It is no longer under the control of anyone and as such it is no longer a threat.

Since then, a couple documents written by the scientist Aaron Blues have been spread around.

If you are a player, please be cautious about discussing lore.
Refer to information given by Lore Team by directly quoting what they have said, linking to a thread on the forums, or directing others to Lore Team if needed. Otherwise, try not to answer questions yourself otherwise as it might lead to misinformation being spread and cause issues! Leave it to the GMs & the Lore Team!
